Frankie Montas gives up six runs as White Sox fall to Tigers
The No. 3 prospect in the organization, Montas allowed six runs in three innings as the White Sox split a four-game series with the Tigers. After Verlander gave up a two-run homer to Cabrera in the fourth inning, you could hear him chewing out Woodring, apparently for the walk to Trayce Thompson the batter before.

“It never gets old”, Verlander said of getting that last punchout, his eighth of the day.
Verlander threw five consecutive fastballs – none less than 98 miles per hour – to Geovany Soto with the bases loaded and two outs in the seventh inning.
Not only did Norris do everything he could to recover from his injury, he studied the masters of his art. He tuned into each start by the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Clayton Kershaw and the Toronto Blue Jays’ David Price while he mended. Starter Daniel Norris was limited to five innings by a pitch count. Melky Cabrera had three hits, including a double and a homer, and drove in three runs for the White Sox. “Really stepped on the gas there to be able up to run it up 99”, Verlander said, chuckling.
The Tigers scored six runs off Frankie Montas (0-1) in his first career start.
The Detroit Tigers have five big-money contracts on their roster in Justin Verlander, Miguel Cabrera, Victor Martinez, Ian Kinsler, and Anibal Sanchez. They scored twice in the first on Martinez’s 11th home run, then added four more runs in the third – two of them scoring on J.D. Martinez’s bases-loaded ground-rule double that gave him 98 RBIs for the season. “I think all the work and everything that I’ve put in is just starting to show itself”. “The same effort was producing 94, 95, 96 earlier”.
The Tigers went on to beat the White Sox, 7-4, on Wednesday afternoon at Comerica Park.
“As long as I’m on the field”, Ryan said, “it doesn’t matter”. “This year has been… a really frustrating year, from a personal aspect”. We didnt just not making the playoffs is failing.. I asked him where it came from, and he said I dont know..
His game-winner wasn’t a surprise to Chicago supporters, as he’s a.305 career hitter against the White Sox.
Davis had two singles before ripping his 11th triple of the season and second in as many games. White Sox relievers were 1-3 with a 6.02 ERA in the last 14 games.

“We’re hoping to get him back in there maybe this weekend”, said Sox manager Robin Ventura… Earlier this month, Olt became the first player to hit a home run for both the White Sox and Chicago Cubs. The Tigers’ 38 victories against Central Division opponents entering the game matched the division-leading Kansas City Royals for the most wins by an American League team in its division this season…
