The Spaniard is widely considered to be the best manager on the planet after guiding Barcelona through their recent rise to become one of the world’s top clubs sides before heading to Germany, where he has since won the Bundesliga.
Bayern honorary president Beckenbauer addressed speculation suggesting that two-time Champions League victor Guardiola could take over the reins from Van Gaal at Old Trafford.
‘Pep is interesting for every top club in the world. “And Manchester United is perhaps the number one worldwide in popularity”.
Senior sources at Old Trafford have insisted they were happy with the progress being made under Louis van Gaal.
Guardiola, who has been known to attend poetry readings in Munich during his Bayern tenure, took the unusual step of pressing a note into Lahm’s hand at Munich’s Allianz Arena on 58 minutes with the scores goalless.
“The collaboration between him and the club over the last three years has been very productive”.
Pep Guardiola has drawn comparisons to legendary United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and both have managed some dominant football teams.
Current United boss Louis van Gaal has come under increasing pressure in recent weeks, heightened by the club’s elimination from the Champions League.
Now Bayern great Beckenbauer has added to the suspicion that Guardiola has his sights set on Manchester United with these comments.
“No-one is irreplaceable. Players come and go and it is the same for coaches”.
