Hoiberg sounded hopeful in his quotes and even if Rose can’t return for opening night, it doesn’t sound like he will miss an extended period of time if he returns after that. Sean Highkin reported for the website that Hoiberg said the injury was not “structural damage” and that once things are “healed, he’ll be ready to go”. Derrick Rose has responded to the gang rape lawsuit filed against him last August and he insists that he’s innocent. With the litany of injuries that D-Rose has faced over the years, it may be wise for the Chicago Bulls to go in another direction and find another piece to build around.
Rose, who comes in at No. 20 on Forbes’ list of the world’s highest paid athletes (when it comes to salary and endorsement deals), signed a $95 million contract with the Bulls in 2011 and was named the NBA’s most valuable player the same year. I’m all for athletes thinking about their future and making a way for the family down the road.
