On Tuesday Freddie Gibbs, or as the court would call him, Frederick Tipton, was officially charged with the sexual assault of a woman from Vienna that occurred during his tour previous year.

He was charged on Tuesday with “sexual abuse of a defenceless or psychologically impaired person”, and if convicted faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, the spokesman added.

Gibbs, 34, whose real name is Fredrick Tipton, was extradited from France over the accusation that he spiked a woman’s drink and sexually abused her while he was on tour in Vienna previous year. She was then reportedly taken back to a hotel where she was allegedly assaulted by the rapper and one of his security agents. We’ll keep you posted as Gibbs’ case develops. The agent did not join Gibbs on his latest tour to Europe and was therefore not seized by European authorities in June.

Freddie Gibbs was released today on bail. We are pleased and thankful that the Court recognized the same trust and confidence we have in Freddie that justified his release.

Yesterday’s charge remains only an allegation, and it does not in any way change the actual facts that Freddie Gibbs is 100% innocent.

At this time, there isn’t a court date set and the rapper continues to demonstrate his innocence in the matter.

Freddie Gibbs was initially arrested in France during his tour of Europe on June 2 due to the allegations, before being freed on $56,000 US dollars bail.

Gibbs will remain in custody in Vienna.
