Free Advice: Do Not Try to Break Up Russell Westbrook’s Pregame Dance

Mavericks forward Charlie Villanueva took exception to Russell Westbrook’s pre-game dance routine, and sent a message to the Thunder guard after Monday’s game.

Westbrook shoved Villanueva and another Maverick player, Justin Anderson, aside, as he and Payne went through their pregame ritual. But the Mavs did recover from losing Game 1 to the Thunder by 38 points to pulling off an 85-84 upset victory in Game 2.

“I heard Russell Westbrook say that’s for the guys who don’t play, and I don’t necessarily know who he’s talking about because Cameron Payne and myself, we both had the same stat line”, Villanueva said. After the game, Kevin Durant and Westbrook mocked Villanueva’s actions and basically made fun of him for not playing. Durant called it “fake shit” and Westbrook basically said that type of behavior is for guys who don’t play.

In any event, this was a highly entertaining sequence that resulted in a much more entertaining game than Game 1 of this series. Go to a club and dance.

“If you want to go dancing, go to a nightclub”. Go to Dancing With the Stars and be a dancer… but not in a basketball game. So I wasn’t necessarily interrupting their dance.
