Freedom: Salman Khan acquitted in animal poaching cases

The poaching case dates back to 1998 when Salman Khan and seven others allegedly killed a blackbuck and a chinkara in two separate incidents.

Two poaching cases were filed against Khan and he was convicted by a lower court and given jail terms of one and five years respectively. He got acquitted from the cases as the Justice of Jodhpur City court didn’t find any evidence that the pellets found in the animal body is from his licensed weapon. Still, 50-year-old Khan remains a household name in Bollywood, racking up dozens of feature films and TV appearances over the course of his career.

Last year, Mumbai’s high court acquitted the actor in a drunk-driving, hit-and-run case from more than a decade ago.

Present at the Rajasthan High Court for Salman’s hearing was his sister Alvira Agnihotri.

“Thank you for your prayers and support”, the star wrote. One animal was said to have been killed at Bhawad on Jodhpur’s outskirts on September 26, 1998, and the other at Ghoda Farms on September 28, 1998.

Furthering his reputation as Bollywood’s notorious bad boy, Khan caused a recent stir when he spoke reporters about the physical strain of shooting his upcoming film “Sultan”.

Salman Khan acquitted from Drunken Driving and Hit-and-Run case in Mumbai High Court previous year. A third case involving Khan’s alleged poaching of an endangered blackbuck is yet to be decided on in Rajasthan. “Thank you god for always showering us with your grace and blessings. We are disappointed and urge the state government to challenge the order in the Supreme court”, Jaju said today.

Khan’s counsel Bora said, “There was no evidence against Salman Khan and it is proved now that he was falsely framed in these cases”. Also thank you to all Bhais and the families well wishers for your prayers, support, love and best wishes.
