French journalist expected to leave China over reporting
On its website, the L’Obs said Gauthier confirmed receiving official communication that she will have to make a public apology to avoid expulsion from the country. “Don t presume to represent me – I don t even know what happened!” wrote one user on China s Twitter-like Weibo platform.

The article “flagrantly championed acts of terrorism and acts of cruelly killing innocents, triggering the Chinese people’s outrage”, said the foreign ministry statement. I can not say, ‘you were right, that I said I support terrorism.’ I can not say that.
She told the Associated Press she anxious the move was “just created to discourage foreign correspondents as time goes on in Beijing”.
The French government, through its foreign ministry, issued a statement yesterday in which it deplored the Chinese authorities’ government.
China is facing accusations of attempting to muzzle and intimidate foreign press after it said it would expel a French journalist who refused to apologise for an article criticising government policy.
Meanwhile, Chan has supported Gauthier in a tweet.
According to AP, China’s problem with Gauthier began after her November 18 article, in which she wrote that Beijing’s declaration of solidarity with Paris after the deadly Paris attacks has a secret agenda behind.
Beijing has asserted that China is a victim of global terrorism following violent ethnic clashes involving members of the Muslim minority Uighur community in the far northwest region of Xinjiang.
Chinese officials say their country faces a growing threat from militants and separatists, especially in its unruly Western region of Xinjiang, where hundreds have died in violence in the past few years.
Before the Paris attacks, only foreign news organizations had written about the mine attack.
A French journalist is preparing to leave China after the Communist government said she was no longer “suitable”‘ to be allowed to work there.
China passed an anti-terrorism law after its draft legislation drew US criticism for the assistance that foreign technology companies may be required to give to snooping by the Chinese authorities.
“We can not understand why other countries’ counter-terrorism policies are legitimate, but China’s counter-terrorism activities are so-called ethnic oppression”, Hua said.
The foreign ministry criticised Western media for using double standards in reporting on the violence.
By then, state media had begun a campaign against Gauthier, accusing her of having deep prejudice against China and having hurt the feelings of the Chinese people.

Earlier in the week, the U.S. State Department expressed “serious concerns” about the law, saying it would do more harm than good to the fight against terrorism, another Reuters report said.
