Friday forecast: Hot and cloudy, high near 90

As the weekend approaches, skies will slowly clear and the hot and humid conditions will return. Some will see pop up showers and storms, and some brief heavy downpours are possible.

A flash flood watch is in effect for Buncombe, McDowell, Avery, Alexander, Burke, Polk, Rutherford, Henderson and Transylvania counties.

“Flash flooding is a very risky situation”, according to the warning. With additional rain expected, flash flooding issues may expand through the evening. Moisture hitting against the front and mountains will squeeze out additional rain over the next 24 hours.
