Friday the 13th TV Series Shambles to the CW
The CW are heading to Camp Crystal Lake with their latest project as they confirm plans to develop Friday the 13th, a horror/drama series based on the popular horror franchise.

Deadline also notes of the new developments that “the masked Jason is being reimagined with a stronger feel of grounded reality”. The series will focus on a detective’s search for his missing brother, who is somehow tied to Jason, who in the series is long thought to have been dead before returning to Crystal Lake. The series adaptation will be written by Steve Mitchell and Craig Van Sickle, creators of the 1996 NBC series “The Pretender“, through CBS TV Studios.
There hasn’t been much development on the Friday the 13th TV series since it was announced last year, but now we’ve discovered who will be writing it. Cunningham will serve as executive producer.
In addition to Friday The 13th, the CW is developing a series based on movies The Notebook, Little Women and Frequency, as well as an adaptation of Archie Comics’ Riverdale. And now the town has a stigma.
There’s also a Friday the 13th movie reboot due on Friday, May 13th 2016, and I wouldn’t expect to see this TV series until at least Fall of 2016. Here’s the real story of Jason.’ It’s been taken and exploited.

“I don’t think we really wanted to do a show about a guy with a machete chasing girls in tube tops,” Long Mitchell tells the outlet. The older crowd is afraid of him. “Underneath those is the monster”. So what ends up happening is, a cop comes into town, looking for his brother. In that instance, I could see the series searching for a True Detective vibe, but if so, what’s the point in using the Friday the 13th brand to begin with?
