The Friends of Morris Library are sponsoring the sale, which will feature hundreds of books of all types along with records, VHS tapes, DVDs and more.

In addition to books, the sale will have about 600 music CD’s, including rock and country vocals, Christmas, classical, and jazz from the Library’s discontinued CD collection.

The Friends’ fall inventory averages around 100,000 newly donated items – the increase in donations is easily handled as the Friends have plenty of storage space in the building they own on Spartanburg Highway. The book sale is an important fundraiser for the Friends and all proceeds will support the library, according to organizers.

Most books cost 50 cents to $1.

Of that total amount, about $33,000 is going toward cultural programming, including the library’s summer reading program, which reaches around 2,500 children in the county. The building is at 127 Main St., Gainesville. That includes a $15,000 grant the Friends make to the library each year. A volunteer can also be assigned to pick up boxed books from donors who need that assistance.
