Kane was accused of subsequently lying about the leak to a grand jury. The allegations of sexism.

“I came to like and respect Attorney General Kane”, he said.

It’s a case that is fascinating, and complicated – and one that underscores Pennsylvania’s penchant for scandal.

“What has transpired with Attorney General Kane is unfortunate”.

She was found guilty of leaking sealed court documents meant to embarrass a rival prosecutor, Frank Fina, who Kane believed had planted a news story claiming that she had ended a statehouse sting operation. After Kane exposed the emails, many high-ranking men in the state were brought down.

The Porngate scandal was a who’s who list in Pennsylvania state politics.

Kane was required by state law to leave office “by the day of her sentencing”, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The felony offense of perjury carries a potential jail term and Steele said prosecutors were considering recommending prison time: “Everything is on the table”.

This, Kane has said, is where her trouble begins.

Actually, let’s back up even further. She could potentially stay in office until January 17, when a new attorney general selected by voters in November will be sworn in.

Kane showed little emotion as the verdict was announced. Rather, she blamed her aides for leaking the information.

Kathleen Kane need not look at any old boys’ network for her downfall.

Then, in 2014, there was another leak on what seemed like a totally unrelated case.

Defense attorney Gerald Shargel told reporters outside the court that the verdict was “a crushing blow”. He acknowledged telling the lie to a grand jury. Castor was hired earlier this year to fill in a newly created position in Kane’s office. “If there is a Mr. Hyde to her Dr. Jekyll, I haven’t seen it”.

Officials chose to press charges against Kane, and the trial played out over the past few weeks. That’s where much of this dirty laundry was aired. Kane’s 2012 election against former Pennsylvania Congressman Patrick Murphy, who crossed the Clintons by endorsing Obama in 2008, became a battle that Bill Clinton was heavily involved in.

Morrow, who had a grant of immunity, said he and Kane devised a cover-up story that framed King for the leak.

Five former aides testified against her, however.

The judge also ordered Kane not to retaliate against any witnesses who testified against her at trial, warning Kane her bail would be revoked and she’d be jailed if she disobeys the order. Her own conviction drew no mention.

Having already lost a fight to use the porn email ruse as a defense for her actions, Kane’s defense team instead tried to paint the witnesses as untrustworthy liars looking to save their own backside.

Kane, 50, faces a maximum sentence of 28 years in prison when she is sentenced October 24, although it’s highly unlikely she will receive punishment that severe since she has no prior criminal record.

Kane’s defense team still maintains her innocence. She is no longer allowed to practice law after being stripped of her license.
