Frozen Fans Find Beijing 2022 Song Familiar

But it’s not just the Games that are being approached with a facsimile mentality; it’s the songs, too.

The city has 33 three-star or higher-rated hotels and the number of similar hotels is expected to exceed 20 in Chongli county alone by 2020, which will be able to accommodate over 20,000 people daily and up to 4 million visitors annually, according to the website of the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games Bid Committee.

As it turns out, “The Snow and Ice Dance“, one of the 10 songs released a couple of months ago for the Winter Olympics, sounds a lot like Disney’s popular ballad “Let It Go”.

In the 128th session of the global Olympic Committee held in Kuala Lumpar, Beijing beat Kazakhstan’s Almaty on Friday in a two-candidate race, winning 44 votes against 40.

“I almost sang ‘Let it Go!’??” wrote Zeta Fera.

“Caijing Online, the website of a prominent Chinese business magazine, also noted the similarities, and offered a technical analysis that went beyond the melodic parallels”, per the Times.

Disney officials were not available for comment and the Beijing Games organising committee has also not responded to media requests for comment.

With a rich legacy left by the summer olympics, China plans to re-use the existing 11 venues and only needs to build a new rink for speed skating, effectively easing possible problems of facilities being left idle after the games. Viewers called “The Autobots” a shameless copy, but the film’s director said he had never even seen “Cars“.

On the Youtube video of “The Snow and Ice Dance“, commenters lamented the lack of originality and the similarity between the Disney hit.

Second is “Come and Ski on the Great Wall”, performed by the male duo Lu Han and Tao Zhe.

Temperatures in northern China typically drop below freezing in winter, but the region is dry, meaning that much of the snow and ice at the games will nearly certainly have to be artificial.
