Frys.com Open field holds up despite hit from Presidents Cup

Victoria’s Cory Renfrew fired a seven-under 65 at the Bayonet Course in Seaside, Calif., to win a Monday qualifier and gain entry into the 2015-16 season-opening event on the PGA Tour. He is joined by South African Charl Schwartzel (1pt from 4) and Chris Kirk (1pt out of 3), who is the only one of the dozen-strong victorious United States side to be playing. He’ll take the I-5 North for his Frys.com debut in Napa. The result was that the Tour came back previous year.

Two new golfers, four new golf courses and a range of additional Play Now modes are to be added to Rory McIlroy PGA Tour for free between now and the end of March 2016, EA has announced. With so numerous top players resting after the Presidents Cup, he has to start as the favourite.

Bowditch will have plenty of fresh competition, however, including four of the world’s top 15 players. There will be a few notable absences from the field this year. He is coming off a second-place finish in his last event.

Matsuyama was 15 in this event previous year. This will be the third year the Frys.com serves as the leadoff event in the PGA Tour’s wraparound season that now begins in the fall.
