“It’s a great opportunity to play an outstanding football team from the Pac-12”, said BYU AD Tom Holmoe.
Oregon beat BYU 32-16 at Autzen Stadium on September 29, 1990, a season when Cougars’ quarterback Ty Detmer won the Heisman Trophy. They are scheduled to play Arizona, Utah, UCLA, West Virginia, Michigan State and Mississippi State in 2016. “We hope to develop a long-term relationship with Oregon”.
The Ducks have not formally announced their non-conference schedule for 2022.
With the series tied at three a piece, the Cougars and Ducks will finally have a rubber match game in 2022. The last time the two teams met was in the Las Vegas Bowl in 2006 as Bronco Mendenhall and his Cougars demolished the Ducks 38-8. The Cougars have also appeared in 10 straight bowl games. The Cougars are 8-9 all-time against teams from the state of Oregon. Over the past 40 seasons, the Cougars have appeared in 33 bowl games, won 23 conference championships and are No. 5 in total wins among all FBS programs with 356 victories.
The schools’ agreement is for just one game, Oregon noted in its announcement of the game (a copy of the contract was not immediately available).

“This matchup fits our scheduling philosophy within the current landscape, which means facing top competition along with our Pac-12 opponents”, Oregon athletic director Rob Mullens said in a GoDucks.com article.
