“During the traffic stop, a passenger who was in that vehicle reportedly exited the vehicle and fired shots at the officer”, Jameson said, adding that another officer had witnessed the shooting and called “on the radio that we had an officer down”.

Police officers spotted the vehicle, finally blocked their way and took three suspects into custody, which are now under investigation.
Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Officials have yet to identify the three men involved in the alleged crime spree. However, a newspaper in OH has linked two OH fugitives to Friday’s shooting.
Hanes and another of the passengers in his vehicle are wanted by authorities in OH in connection with the fatal shooting of a 62-year-old man on July 25, Ohio’s Chillicothe Gazette reported.
Federal and local authorities plan to release more information about the fatal shooting of New Mexico police officer by a suspected fugitive from OH during a news conference Saturday.
But the OH duo is also believed to be involved with the fatal shooting of a police officer in Hatch, N.M., which resulted in their capture.
Roads entering Hatch were closed as of Friday night.
The 33-year-old was a two-year department veteran.
However, carjackings were typically depicted as unprovoked violent attacks that did not involve actual shootings, but weapons were used in 74 percent of carjacking occurrences at least as an intimidation instrument against the victims, 45 percent firearms, 11 percent knives and 18 percent some other type of weapon.
“There’s a total of eight (officers) out there”.
Hanes and Nelson, Columbus and Newark residents respectively, were on the run.
Gov. Susana Martinez said the killing of Chavez is heart-breaking.
“We’re mourning with the rest of law enforcement here in the county”.
Hanes was 16 and living in Columbus when he pleaded guilty in 1995 to involuntary manslaughter and other charges.

Nelson, who also goes by “JD”, has a string of drug-related convictions in central OH dating back to the mid-1990s. If you would like to discuss another topic, look for a relevant article.
