Funds Pour In To Support Family Of Philando Castile
“Officer (Jeronimo) Yanez is deeply saddened for the family and loved ones of Philando Castile”, said the statement from attorney Thomas M. Kelly.

Flowers filled a pot near the home’s front steps, and a wreath was hung on the front door.
The Star Tribune reported that Yanez lives in the Twin Cities with his wife and child.
Police say the group made their way to a nearby commercial street where they broke the storefront window of one business as well as windows of an unattended police squad vehicle.
On Thursday night, a gunman ambushed police officers who had been protecting a downtown Dallas protest responding to the deaths of Castile and Alton Sterling, the black man recently killed by police in Louisiana.
Demonstrators gather outside the governor’s residence Friday, July 8, 2016, in St. Paul, Minn., where protests continue over the shooting death by police of Philando Castile after a traffic stop Wednesday, July 6, in Falcon Heights.
The bureau says Yanez approached the driver’s side of the vehicle and Kauser approached from the passenger side before Yanez shot Castile multiple times.
The officer then fired at least four shots at Castile, continuing to aim the gun at his body as he bled out in the driver’s seat. Both were put on administrative leave, as is standard.
He said Yanez, 28, was a kind man who gives generously of his time to the St. Anthony community.
The death of Philando Castile, captured by his girlfriend on video she streamed on Facebook Live, was the catalyst for a new wave of protests by the Black Lives Matter movement. She recorded the aftermath on her phone, and the video has since gone viral.
Video from the scene showed protesters marching along a street when shots erupted and the crowd scattered, seeking cover. The two even went to senior prom together.
Christian Dobratz taught the officers when they were students at Minnesota State University-Mankato from 2008 to 2010. He is also a member of the Minnesota Chapter of the National Latino Peace Officers Association.
“It’s hard to tell why the officer pulled his weapon”.
Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed tweeted that the rally was largely peaceful, though about 10 people had been arrested.
Kristy Carter said she’s been protesting every night since Sterling was killed. And I hunt and I fish and I own a gun. “I can understand that people would have those feelings, especially with everything that is happening across the country… but that is not who he is”, Luconic said.
Castile’s family was stunned by the shooting.

Dayton all but called Castile’s death in a St. Paul suburb an act of racism. While saying he could not provide more detail, he said “I can tell you that race had nothing to do with the shooting”. Murphy is now an assistant principal at Lakeville South High School. “The next march in Dallas, I guarantee they’re going to have sniper teams all along the march, cops with high-powered rifles, to see if anyone is going to be a copycat”, Lally said. “Because what is depicted in the video, it just makes you sad to watch all of that unfold”, Choi said Friday. He said Yanez and Kauser were not only good students but they were standout students in his classes.
