Funeral set for MSP Trooper Chad Wolf

A state trooper who was dragged for several miles after his motorcycle was struck by a auto and trailer on a Michigan highway has died.

Visitations will be held Sunday from 5-9 PM and Monday at 2-5 PM and 7-9 PM at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel in Fenton, MI.

A funeral service is set for 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept 1, at Fenton High School, 3200 W. Shiawassee Ave., with Pastor Tigg Vanaman presiding, followed by internment at Fairview Cemetery in Linden.

After several hours at a nearby hospital, Trooper Chad Wolf died of his injuries, according to Michigan State Police. He had been with the state police since 2008 in the Special Enforcement Section Motor Unit and assigned to the Jackson, Flint, and Metro posts. The driver dragged Wolf for over four miles until he got to the next rest area off of I-75.

He is survived by his wife, Erin; four children, Autumn, Mikah, Korbin, and Koltin; parents, Lyle and Karen Wolf of Illinois; two brothers, William (Suzanne) Passalaqua of Illinois and Kent Wolf of New York; sister, Amanda E. Wolf of Illinois; many nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Helen Blair of Ortonville.

The collision happened on northbound Dixie Highway crossing over southbound I-75 in Springfield Township. The car’s driver was cooperating with investigators.

He was an involved member of the Great Lakes Baptist Church, where he served as a youth leader. Contributions may also be made to the Chad H. “Trooper Wolf today laid down his life in service to others, and for that his family will never be the same”.

“The troopers who serve us every day in the name of public safety are incredibly courageous, selfless and honorable”, Snyder said.

His family has set up a GoFundMe page to help with funeral costs. “This loss will be felt deeply by the entire state of Michigan”, Snyder said.
