Fury-Klitschko rematch set for July 9th in Manchester

Klitschko had the right to a rematch, and will now battle the champ in July to win back the WBA Super and WBO heavyweight titles.

Fury’s camp are expected to confirm later today that the venue will be Manchester Arena, which hosted David Haye’s heavyweight world title fights against John Ruiz and Audley Harrison in 2010.

The fight could take place at Old Trafford, and Fury has made no secret about his desire to fight at the stadium of the club he supports.

The Ukranian was unbeaten since 2004, and very few gave Tyson Fury a chance of causing a huge upset.

Klitschko had been world champion since 2006 when he was beaten on points by Fury, who is unbeaten in 25 professional fights – 18 of them won by knockout. There’s been no shortage of experts claiming the Lancashire-born slugger will have little trouble repeating the trick.

“Some big news coming imminently expect announcements in next 24/48 hours!! said Peter Fury. If anything I can see a more conclusive victory next time”.

Shortly after winning the fight, the 27-year-old Champion was stripped of his IBF title after stating his intention to honour his binding rematch clause with Klitschko.
