Fury Road’ Prequel is Reportedly on the Way
George Miller was, even as the excellent Mad Mad: Fury Road garnered award nominations and hard cash, working on the idea of another Mad Max film (in fact, it was reportedly on his mind even as he was developing his acclaimed sequel). The Herald Sun in Australia reports that a prequel is now in pre-production in Australia with filming possibly starting before the year’s end – and with Miller back at the helm.

Mad Max: Fury Road received fantastic reviews following its release past year. They say production is looking to shoot at Broken Hill Studios in New South Wales, but they don’t exactly have a track record for breaking big entertainment news stories. Fury Road was earlier going to be filmed in the same studio, but heavy rainfall caused the cancellation of plans and the crew moved to Namibia. Nevertheless, he becomes swept up with a group fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by an elite Imperator, Furiosa (Charlize Theron). At present no one, including actors, director Miller or Warner Bros. have commented about an imminent sequel, let alone confirmed its existence.

The future of the Mad Max franchise has been a little uncertain at Warner Bros. The fifth installment of George Miller’s “Mad Max” saga will explore the story before Tom Hardy’s lone hero meets Charlize Theron’s Furiosa, repoirted Aceshowbiz. The black-and-white cut of Fury Road, labelled as Mad Max: Fury Road – Black & Chrome Edition will go on sale on 6 December, along with Mad Max High Octane Collection, which will include all four movies in the Mad Max franchise.
