Fury vs Klitschko rematch confirmed: Fighters will battle for heavyweight

“There is a contract to say that he’s entitled to a rematch, so the rematch clause has got to be fulfilled”.

Wladimir Klitschko will attempt to regain his world heavyweight titles by taking up his option for a rematch with new champion Tyson Fury next year. Asked why he threw so few right hands – Klitschko threw only 18 power punches in the entire fight – the beaten man replied: “My right hand was not injured”.

“I’ll be making use of my contractual option for a rematch with Fury”.

“We’re going to appeal to them but if they insist on stripping us, then that belt will go in the dustbin because their belt will mean nothing”.

Fury’d trainer and uncle Peter Fury says he is focused on defending against Klitschko in May or June, before a possible unification clash with WBC champ Deontay Wilder at the end of next year. This time we did not see him in good condition, no good technique. He’s exercising that clause so there’s nothing we can do to satisfy the IBF.

Glazkov is the mandatory challenger but Fury might chose to fight Klitschko in a lucrative rematch instead.

“To be clear, Tyson Fury must fight Vyacheslav Glazkov next”, the IBF chief told World Boxing News. When we were face to face at the weigh-in, he looked the same height as me, but when he took his shoes off to get on the scales he looked six inches shorter, and appeared much shorter on the night. “I’m a fighter and I will take up all challenges”.

“To try and strip him of the title after not even a week of winning it is, in my opinion, outrageous and there are other motives there”. They should be happy he [Fury] holds the belt and is fighting again in the biggest fight out there. They are the three venues I wanted to box in – I wasn’t really interested in Las Vegas and all of them places. Quite clearly, there’s something not correct with it.

But he will bid to reclaim his four belts next year in the return fight. “I never took my eyes off him during the stare-off”.
