Fury Won – But Could Have Done Better

It wasn’t pretty, but Tyson Fury got it done.

Mick Hennessy thinks Wladimir Klitschko won’t fancy a rematch against Tyson Fury after the Manchester fighter won his world heavyweight titles.

Asked why he threw so few right hands – Klitschko threw only 18 power punches in the entire fight – the beaten man replied: “My right hand was not injured”.

Fury constantly tried to unsettle Klitschko during the build up to the fight, with posts on Twitter and comments to the press about how he was going to crush Klitschko.

The judges scored the fight 115-112, 115-112, 116-111 in favour of the Britain.

Six foot night inch Fury, known as the “Gypsy King”, spoke to TV reporters after his victory about his supreme confidence going into the contest.

Now, one of the things that struck us all about this fight was that Klitschko looked a bit disinterested. Fury can fight the victor of the Dillian Whyte vs. Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder, David Haye, Vyaceslav Glazkov, or some of the contenders in the division depending on whether he’s able to make a voluntary defense.

The new champion was deducted a point for punching the back of Klitschko’s head in the 11th and was holding on in the final round, but he already had the titles in the bag. I just could not find the right distance.

“I always said what I’d do and I’ve delivered tonight”.

“Because of the history between us, Fury’s camp won’t give me any voluntary fights”. I have lived in Ireland, visited all my life and when I fight I represent Ireland. “I’d love to come back to Germany, because where better to beat him than in his own back yard?”

Fury has paid tribute to his uncle and trainer Peter, who he believes revitalised his career after they started working together in 2012. “We were trying for two years so this is obviously the icing on the cake”, Fury said.

“It’s a great honour to be sat here with all these belts as the heavyweight champion of the world”.

Fury dressed as Batman in the run-up to the fight and was involved in verbal spats with Klitschko, labelling him boring and robotic as well as saying he was only interested in breaking his face.

Klitschko, who drops to 69-4 with the defeat, admitted he had been surprised by the speed and dexterity of his 2.06m opponent and said he knew he needed a knockout to retain his crowns.
