Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Monday he and U.S. President Barack Obama had managed to reach understanding of each other and of problems facing the two countries, TASS reports.

The two diplomats met for an hour but emerged still at odds on certain issues, said a senior State Department official, who wasn’t authorized to discuss the talks by name and requested anonymity.

Both Russian and USA officials said the meeting – which was held in a conference room at the G20 summit site here – lasted longer than planned, and that leaders spent the bulk of their meeting discussing Syria.
The U.S. has been trying unsuccessfully to broker a cease-fire with Russian Federation in Syria that will hold.
China had made trade a theme of the meeting in the lakeside city of Hangzhou, southwest of Shanghai, even as it faces complaints that a flood of low-priced steel exports are threatening US and European jobs, fueling demands for trade curbs. “We’ll see in coming days whether on Syria we can reach a near-term agreement”.

Obama said the us and China would continue to work together to ensure the two countries are leaders in addressing climate issues, “despite [our] differences on other issues”. Russian Federation has since said that it, too, was hacked.
The two leaders tried to downplay the impact on U.S.
But the US has always been skeptical of the military coordination part of the deal, because it says Russian Federation has mainly targeted moderate, USA -backed opposition groups in a bid to prop up Assad. He says the US will take the time needed to ensure the agreement has the best chance for success.

In an effort to shore up public support for trade, they promised “inclusive growth” to spread the benefits of closer global integration more widely to millions of people who have been left behind by wrenching change.
