The two diplomats met for an hour but emerged still at odds on certain issues, said a senior State Department official, who wasn’t authorized to discuss the talks by name and requested anonymity.
September 5: Following accusations of delivering a calculated diplomatic snub to United States President Barack Obama for not providing with a staircase to leave his plane during his arrival at the G20 Summit by Chinese authorities, a Chinese newspaper has suggested that the incident was “trifling” one adding, it has been sensationalised by the western media.
Obama departs China Monday for Laos, where his Pacific trade plan will take center stage. “Even Obama has had to mark some time in his diary to meet Putin, although the USA will look to play this down”.
Both Russian and USA officials said the meeting – which was held in a conference room at the G20 summit site here – lasted longer than planned, and that leaders spent the bulk of their meeting discussing Syria.
The U.S. has been trying unsuccessfully to broker a cease-fire with Russian Federation in Syria that will hold.
China had made trade a theme of the meeting in the lakeside city of Hangzhou, southwest of Shanghai, even as it faces complaints that a flood of low-priced steel exports are threatening US and European jobs, fueling demands for trade curbs. “We’ll see in coming days whether on Syria we can reach a near-term agreement”.
“Every time that I come to Russia, I ask them to buy me Russian ice cream”, Xi said, according to NDTV.
“M$3 y instructions to Secretary Kerry and Mr Putin’s instructions to [Foreign Minister] Mr Lavrov were to keep working at it over the next several days”, the U.S. leader told the media. “It’s premature for us to say that there is a clear path forward, but there is the possibility at least for us to make some progress on that front”.
Obama said the us and China would continue to work together to ensure the two countries are leaders in addressing climate issues, “despite [our] differences on other issues”. Russian Federation has since said that it, too, was hacked.
The two leaders tried to downplay the impact on U.S.
But the US has always been skeptical of the military coordination part of the deal, because it says Russian Federation has mainly targeted moderate, USA -backed opposition groups in a bid to prop up Assad. He says the US will take the time needed to ensure the agreement has the best chance for success.

In an effort to shore up public support for trade, they promised “inclusive growth” to spread the benefits of closer global integration more widely to millions of people who have been left behind by wrenching change.
