G20 summit expected to promote global interconnection
In an interview with the Chinese media, Bounnhang, who is also general secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, said China’s G20 presidency reflects the positive view of the Chinese party and government in worldwide cooperation, adding that Laos appreciates China’s leading role.

Laos’ attendance in the G20 summit is of great importance, the Chinese president said.
What it wants least: Any discussion of sensitive political issues, chiefly disputes in which China appears as an aggressive revanchist power eager to erase the humiliations of the past two centuries.
“It is historic that China, as the host country of the summit, has put innovation in a very important place on the agenda, which indicates that China is playing a leading role in transforming the G20 from a system dealing with short-term problems into a permanent mechanism to tackle global challenges”.
Meanwhile, thousands of migrant workers have left the city due to the halt in their work lives and the growing inconvenience caused due to preparations for the G20 Summit.
“With next month’s G20 summit being held in China, we urge the United States to ask the Chinese government to immediately release those who were sentenced and those who are about to be tried in the next few days, including attorney Li Heping”, Fu wrote. The activists were among about 300 people detained and questioned in July of a year ago, most of whom have since been released.
For his part, Temer said that he valued Brazil’s relationship with China and the strengthening of strategic ties. Wang stated, “China’s aim is to initiate cooperation to support industrialization of Africa and least developed countries (LDCs)”.
“When Obama came in, he made a big a difference, he had new ideas, and he wanted to show at home and internationally that the USA can drive the economic recovery”, said Paola Subacchi, International Economics research director at foreign affairs think tank Chatham House.
“This development is in line with China’s deepening affirmation of globalization, and its realization that no country, including China, could stand unaffected in the wake of the 2008 global financial crisis”, Xu said.
China will also hope that a successful summit will dampen criticism from the USA and European Union over sentences for subversion handed out to legal activists in a demonstration of the party’s determination to silence independent human rights workers and government critics.
For many, the G20 Hangzhou summit has come to the “right country at the right time”.
Observers also say wariness over China’s rise, fuelled by its rejection of an worldwide tribunal ruling on its South China Sea claims, could thwart its agenda at the summit.
Though slowing, China’s GDP growth was 6.7 percent in the second quarter of this year, within the government’s target range of 6.5 percent to 7 percent for 2016, and was accompanied with progress in structural economic improvements.

“Interconnection” is one segment of the “4Is scheme” to produce an innovative, invigorated, interconnected and inclusive world economy that was proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping at last year’s G20 summit in Antalya, Turkey.
