The G20 Hangzhou Summit is President Temer’s first major global event after taking over Brazil’s leadership from Dilma Rousseff, who was ousted by the country’s senate.
Both were key to getting an agreement in Paris a year ago.
Chinese President Xi Jinping is calling on other nations gathering for the Group of 20 summit to follow China’s lead and ratify the Paris climate agreement.
More leaders will arrive in China in the next few days.
“All countries will need to raise the ambition of their commitments under the agreement if we’re to avoid the worst impacts of climate change and reach a goal of net zero global warming emissions by mid-century”, Meyer said.
Terror attacks in Europe, the looming USA presidential election and bloody ongoing conflicts in Syria and Iraq are among the issues making the world an uncertain and unsettling place.
While the Chinese security agencies mounted a massive security operation including heavy scrutiny of the guests in top hotels, the majority of the city’s over nine million population either left for holidays out of the city or stayed indoors reportedly on instructions to ensure a smooth summit. “It is known to all that the G20 Summit is supposed to focus on how to inject vitality and impetus to world economic development serving as a platform prioritising and improving global economic governance”, she said.
Li Shuo, senior climate policy adviser for the environmental group Greenpeace, said Saturday that the two countries acting on the agreement was “a very important next step”.
On the sidelines, Mr Turnbull will hold a number of bilateral meetings to discuss issues ranging from the fight against Islamic State in Iraq and Syria to Australia’s interest in free trade deals with Indonesia and the European Union. A meeting of foreign ministers from the three countries last week produced a rare display of unity in sharply criticizing the North’s most recent submarine missile test, but did little to resolve the tensions with Beijing.
Zhu Guangyao said China hopes the worldwide community will reach a consensus on economic structural reforms.
“The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) attaches great importance to boosting close cooperation and common development among G20 members, including China”, he said.
The US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) has asked the US president to address the lack of religious freedoms in the country and urge the release of religious prisoners.
Preparations for the G20 leaders summit that starts Sunday have entered their final stage.

Although a decision on whether or not the Hinkley Point C project in Somerset will go ahead is expected this month, United Kingdom officials indicated it would not be announced at the meeting with the Chinese leader – fuelling speculation the plan will be scrapped or significantly altered.
