Sheriff’s deputies responding to a call found three dead people – a 75-year-old man, an 85-year-old woman and a 31-year- old woman – shortly before 8 p.m. (midnight GMT) on Friday. Victims found at the Washington Road scene were identified as Lizzy Williams, 59, and Shelly Williams, 62.
The body of shooting suspect Wayne Anthony Hawes, 50, was recovered Saturday by authorities in his northeastern Georgia home, Columbia County Sheriff Captain Andy Shedd said in a statement.
Wayne Anthony Hawes was found dead on Saturday, of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. They also found evidence that he attempted to set the house on fire.
Relatives told the New York Times that Dent was Hawes’ mother-in-law and that his wife had been in protective custody Friday night.
Five people died in what appeared to be a pair of domestic-related shootings in Appling, Georgia, Friday night, according to multiple media reports. Clark died at the hospital, Shedd said.
Lauren Hawes says her father was upset after her mother ended their relationship. Investigators said they don’t know whether the man is in a vehicle or if he’s on foot. Their investigation led them to Hawes, Shedd said. She said Roosevelt Burns was her grandmother’s brother.
