Gaana digital musical service gets investment from Micromax

Micromax has decided in invest in Gaana.com – one of the top music streaming and broadcasting services in India.

However, details about how much money has been invested id by the Micromax officials have not been yet disclosed.

While the terms of the deal have not been completely laid out on the table, new Micromax smartphone users will receive free trials to Gaana+, which would enable them to download unlimited songs with zero advertising for a limited period of time. Times Internet (parent company of Gaana) CEO Satyan Gajwani said the move will bolster his plan for Gaana to reach its goal of 100 million users, something Spotify has yet to achieve, though is quickly approaching.

While, the partnering reports of both Gaana and Micromax further said that from now onwards, the Micromax Smartphones users would have a great experience of listening and downloading their favorite music from Gaana on the mobile app. Micromax has established similar partnerships with Ixigo, MiMedia and other service providers. It offers access to over 10 million songs in more than 45 languages, as well as 45 radio stations, 10 such radios are titled Radio Mirchi. India is a music loving nation and youth at this time are hooked on music for no less than 2-3 hours a day by way of their smartphones. Gaana competes with the likes of Saavn, Rdio (acquired Dhingana) and Hungama among others in the music streaming space. Partnership with Micromax will help them reach out to millions of Micromax users and strengthen its footprint in the country.
