Gabriel has suspension withdrawn by FA after appeal

Chelsea have pronounced themselves “extremely disappointed” after Costa was handed a retrospective three-match ban for violent conduct following his clash with Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny, which was missed by the officials on the day.

Costa twice appeared to strike Koscielny with his hand towards the end of the first half at Stamford Bridge and then became embroiled in an altercation with Arsenal’s Brazilian defender Gabriel, for which both players were booked.

“The player is now subject to a separate FA charge of improper conduct in relation to Saturday’s game and has until 6pm on Thursday [24 September 2015] to reply”.

According to Daily Mail, the FA are charging Costa with “violent conduct” after grabbing Koscienly in the face and later knocking him to the ground.

“The team doesn’t need that, the team lost an important player for three matches and I don’t think they need to lose their manager“, Mourinho said.

Gabriel was sent off for kicking out at Diego Costa during the Gunners’ 2-0 defeat by Chelsea at the weekend.

I don’t comment. If I reveal my true feelings a big suspension will be waiting for me.

The FA fast-tracked Costa’s case so that it would be resolved before Chelsea’s Capital One Cup trip to Walsall on Wednesday night.

There is the feeling at Chelsea that Costa plays on the edge but is nearly always in control and knows how not to cross the line with anything too flagrant.

“But I don’t put pressure on myself because I know my quality”. I want to play and when the manager gives me a chance I just try to score goals and give assists. “Of course it’s a shame for us to lose him for three games”, he said.

The former Queens Park Rangers forward has backed himself to do Costa’s work in the Premier League against Newcastle United and Southampton in which the Spaniard will not be involved.
