Gabrielle Giffords: ‘I want to say 2 words: ‘Madam President’ ‘
Giffords and her husband, former astronaut Mark Kelly, are scheduled to take that message to the Democratic National Convention Wednesday.

She got around to the mission at hand, urging a vote for the party nominee, Hillary Clinton. The couple spoke during a segment highlighting victims of gun violence, as Giffords herself survived an assassination attempt.
“In Congress, I learned a powerful lesson”, the former Democratic representative of Arizona said.
Giffords led the crowd in a three-round call and response to “Are you ready?” riffing on Clinton’s “Ready” slogan (and the name of her PAC). “Hillary is tough. Hillary is courageous”.
“Gabby & I are excited to speak at @DemConvention on Wednesday. about why @HillaryClinton will make our country safer”, Kelly said Thursday (July 21) via his Twitter account, ShuttleCDRKelly.
“Come January, I want to say these two words: ‘Madam President'”.
Focusing her attention on the need for gun reform legislation, she added, “What we can control is who we give the f**king weapons to. That’s why I’m voting for Hillary”, Giffords told the crowd. She then delivered a short, but captivating speech.
Her appearance at the event – co-sponsored by her political action committee – followed stories by parents who lost their children to gun violence.
