The Mumbai Police on Thursday detained Sandeep Gadoli’s model girlfriend Divya Pahuja and her mother in Delhi in connection with the alleged fake encounter of the Haryana-based gangster. SC dismisses judicial inquiry plea The Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed a petition demanding a judicial inquiry into the “killing” by a Gurgaon police Crime Branch team in Mumbai on February 7.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Mumbai Police, which is probing the encounter, detained Divya Pahuja and her mother Sonia in Gurgaon earlier in the day and questioned them as suspects in the case, he said. “By the time the police team reached, she had left”, the officer said. Following their statements, the SIT placed them under arrest on Tuesday evening, said a police officer on condition of anonymity. “Divya was the only eyewitness”.
Her mother was in constant touch with her and she had an access to Divya’s Facebook account and Gurugram crime branch had forced her mother to keep updating about her location.
“Their interrogation will either lead to more persons being named as accused in the case or we may wrap up our investigation”, the officer added.
Wanted criminal Sandeep Gadoli has been killed in a police encounter in a Mumbai hotel on Sunday morning.
Gadoli was shot dead by a team of Haryana police at a hotel near the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport here on February 7.

While the Gurgaon police team claimed that they had fired in self-defence, the SIT formed by the Mumbai police concluded that the encounter was fake, and filed an FIR against eight people, including five policemen from Gurgaon. It is being alleged that the Gurgaon police had used Gadoli’s girlfriend as a honey trap.
