Galaxy Note 7, a quartet of problems

This close to the Galaxy Note 7’s release, which is Friday, August 19, information on the device’s hardware specs and features already abound for Samsung fans to brief themselves on.

The teardown also reveals what many had suspected – the camera system onboard is identical to what you’d find in the preceding Galaxy S7 handset, as is the flash memory and gyroscope. Any smartphone screen is too small on to make proper notes, and the handwriting recognition is good, but slower than just typing on a touchscreen keyboard. Given this design, it was noted that the device looks very similar to the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. The bad news is that the phablet earned a repairability score of 4 out of 10, only slightly better than the Galaxy S7’s 3 out of 10. It can also be downloaded via Samsung’s Smart Switch software on a PC, which is also a great way in transferring data from one device to another.

Today marks the official launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.

The new phablet costs around 1.06 million won ($948) in Germany, 1.07 million won in France and Spain and 1.09 million won in the United Kingdom, according to Samsung’s online stores. Also, if you shatter the glass it can not be repaired without “destroying the display” meaning users have to take extra care with the device. The service provides 15GB of free storage.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is the first device in the Note family to be water resistant to a maximum depth of 1.5 metre upto 30 minutes. We’re not sure when though.

The new Iris Scanner, in addition to the fingerprint reader, unlocks the phone in seconds even in dark environments. This new Gallery app has a new interface called Grace UX and features object and face recognition.
