Galaxy Note 7 concerns knock $14bn off Samsung’s market value
Caribbean Airlines (CAL) on Friday issued a ban on the in-flight use and battery charging of the recently re-called Samsung Galaxy Note 7, following a directive from the Trinidad and Tobago Civil Aviation Authority.

The South Korean company asked users to return their existing Galaxy Note 7 and get a safer version.
“We are asking users to power down their Galaxy Note 7s and exchange them as soon as possible”, said Koh Dong-jin, head of Samsung’s smartphone business.
In the U.S., replacement devices will be issued to exchange program participants upon completion of the CPSC process.
National carrier Vietnam Airlines has stopped supplying its charging service for the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 during its flights.
“We were also told that every recalled phone will be remotely deactivated after September 30th”.

Shares sank more than 7% to a near two-month low after USA aviation authorities warned flyers not to use the device, which has been seen exploding or catching fire after charging. A similar warning was sent out to USA consumers Friday.
Besides airlines in the US, Scandinavian Airlines and Singapore Airlines are among the carriers to have banned the device. “Additionally, these devices must be kept out of checked baggage”.

The statement from the CSPC comes less than two weeks after reports of exploding Galaxy Note 7 devices started to surface around the globe.
