After the series of reports of exploding batteries in the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, the Korean company recalled their Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phones. “Sprint is encouraging customers still using an old Samsung Galaxy Note 7 to schedule an appointment starting 9/21 to pick up their replacement device”.
Samsung has issued an updated recall of the Galaxy Note 7 on Tuesday, 20 September, this in addition to the global recall issued on almost 2.5 million of the Galaxy Note 7 phones in early September.
Samsung Electronics shipped 100,000 units of the new Galaxy Note 7 phones to carriers and retail stores on the first day of the exchange program to ensure there is no bottleneck.
“The goal of this safety advisory is to advise air operators, passengers and crew of the risks involved in transporting the new Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphone in checked baggage or inside the cabin of an aircraft”. In fact, sales restarted in 11 countries from all over the world, while in others Samsung is sending consumers replacement units.

Samsung Electronics did not answer emails on Thursday seeking comment. According to SamMobile, the South Korean company started testing the release internally at its European headquarters in Poland earlier this week ahead of its public debut. In the United States where the recall program started on September 21, about 500,000 units of the Note 7 smartphones, almost half of the devices that are subject to a voluntary recall issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, have been already exchanged. The commission website said consumers can get a refund or a new replacement device and it did not say if there is a deadline for getting a refund.
