Gamaliel Offoritsenere Onosode dies at 82
According to VANGUARD, Onosode died Tuesday morning at Gold Cross Hospital, Ikoyi Lagos at about 8:15am after a protracted illness.

He was also an adviser to former President Shehu Shagari and a former president of the Nigerian Institute of Management. He was a Fellow of the Economic Development Institute of the World Bank, the Nigerian Institute of Management, of which he was president from 1979 to 1982.
The late Onosoda studied at the Government College, Ughelli and the University of Ibadan.
Onosode was one of Nigeria’s leading chief executives in the banking sector when he was at the helm of affairs at NAL Merchant Bank.
The statement signed by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina said Buhari believed that Onosode would be long remembered as an exemplary citizen and leader who made very significant contributions to national development.
The President urged his family, friends, associates and other Nigerians to honour Onosode’s memory by upholding the virtues of integrity, honesty and dedication to service, which he passionately promoted in his highly successful career in the private and public sectors.
In its reaction, PDP described Onosode’s demise as a great loss to Nigeria.
His death was confirmed in a press statement issued by the former Commonwealth Secretary, Chief Emeka Anyaoku.
“Though Pa Onosode lived a fulfilled life up to old age, the news came to me as a shock that one of the most illustrious Nigerians is gone”.
Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has expressed sadness over the death of the foremost technocrat and industrialist whom he called Gam.
