Game Awards 2015: Rocket League is coming to the Xbox One

Backward compatibility is now available for the Xbox One, and while there is a specific list of Xbox One Backwards Compatible Games, the list is growing each week.

This means that players will have to face each other within their brand of platforms.

Psyonix not including crossplay for Rocket League on the Xbox One is possibly not the studio’s decision, and could have something to do with Microsoft disallowing developers to add the feature. After all, Rocket League is massively popular, as it has accrued over 1 million sales on Steam, so it will probably make bank for Microsoft regardless, but omitting a popular aspect of the game from its Xbox One port has the potential to hurt rather than help the bottom line. These are the Armadillo, a Battle-Car based on the Armored Personnel Carrier of the same name in “Gears of War” series, and the HogSticker, which is an alternate version of the Warthog Force Application Vehicle from the “Halo” franchise. When the Xbox One was first announced, one of the biggest issues concerning it was the lack of backward compatibility.

Psyonix will finally launch “Rocket League” for Microsoft consoles.

Despite Psyonix’s explanation, IGN noted that some Xbox One games have cross-platform play feature with the PC.

This version of the game will come with three content packs: Supersonic Fury, Revenge of the Battle-Cars, and Chaos Run.

On launch day itself, players will be able to buy the “Back to the Future” DeLorean DLC released back in October. Then, a month after the game’s release, Psyonix already hinted that it is planning on creating different versions of the game for other platforms. While this change won’t seem significant to most players, it will make the connection between Microsoft devices much closer. Psyonix announced “Rocket League” will release for the Xbox One on February 2016.
