‘Game of Thrones’ and the rise of primetime violence

George R.R. Martin hinted at a Game of Thrones prequel series while attending the 2016 Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday. Martin pointed out that Game of Thrones still has two more seasons, while he is still finishing two more books.

However, given, the dearth of hourlong dramas at the network right now-and given that Game of Thrones is their most lucrative series in history-one imagines a greenlight for said prequel series as soon as Game of Thrones ends is a safe bet. He was asked whether or not a Game of Thrones spinoff is a possibility, saying “It’s a great world that George created”. I think it’s a very rich world and I’m sure there will be other series set in Westeros but for us, this is it.

Martin has yet to complete books six and seven of the seven planned books for A Song of Ice and Fire.

The author of the Game of Thrones book series said he has enough material to create a new spin-off series when Thrones wraps after its eighth season (the seventh will return in the summer of 2017).

According to Cinema Blend, there’s been a good deal of speculation around what form a Game of Thrones spinoff would take ever since the idea was first floated earlier this year. “The guys aren’t opposed to it, but there’s no concrete plans”.

Don’t get too excited for a Game of Thrones prequel at this stage, however. Which stories of Martin’s should be culled for a series adaptation?

“It will be bigger and it will be better, but it will also be worse but mostly better”, Game of Thrones showrunner D.B. It won the Outstanding Drama Series award for the second year in a row, and is now tied with sitcom Frasier for total awards won – a whopping 37 over the series’ life so far. However, come 2018, expect Game of Thrones to obliterate Frasier’s lifetime Emmy wins record.
