Gears of War 4 is a big investment for Microsoft-owned developer The Coalition.

The prolific film and TV composer says he put his own spin on the game’s soundtrack while remaining faithful to the almost decade-old “Gears” series.

“Gears of War 4 is definitely action-driven but what really appealed to me, too, is that there is an underlying emotional throughline in the game that I really like”, he said.

Each Gears of War score has been an unforgettable experience, and Gears of War 4 features one that will take that experience even further.

Sounds good to me. Nowadays, it’s nearly limitless.

The game, out October 11, is set 25 years after “Gears of War 3” and centers on the son of “Gears” series protagonists Marcus Fenix and Anya Stroud.

In addition to “Gears of War 4”, Djawadi has also crafted the scores for the new HBO series “Westworld”, the upcoming “Prison Break” revival and the Matt Damon film “The Great Wall”.

In the video below, you can have first a behind the scenes look at Ramin at work as well as commentary from Studio Head Rod Fergusson, Audio Director John Morgan and Mixing Engineer Alan Meyerson explaining what they were looking to achieve for the game’s musical themes.
