Game Of Thrones and Downton Abbey are nominated for the outstanding drama series award along with Better Call Saul, Homeland, House Of Cards, Mr Robot and The Americans. Other comedy nominees included HBO’s “Silicon Valley”, Amazon’s “Transparent” and Netflix’s “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt“.

The nominees for best actor in a drama series include: Kyle Chandler, “Bloodline”; Rami Malek, “Mr. Robot”; Bob Odenkirk, “Better Call Saul”; Matthew Rhys, “The Americans”; Liev Schreiber, “Ray Donovan”; Kevin Spacey, “House of Cards“.

In addition, Martindale got another nomination (her fourth for this guest role) while executive producers Joe Weisberg and Joel Fields got a best-writing nod.

ABC did receive best-comedy bids for perennial nominee “Modern Family” and “Black-ish”, as well as the second edition of “American Crime“, the only broadcast nominee in the limited-series category.

Things started off slow as Anderson recalled how he was the last one to hear when he was nominated for an Emmy for his role in the ABC comedy series past year, but he didn’t mind finding out late when the news was that he was up for an Emmy. But the show wasn’t nominated for a best drama Emmy and, perhaps more surprisingly, star Julianna Margulies was also snubbed. ABC was the prime beneficiary in major categories for Black-ish and limited series American Crime, though Henson and Will Forte, of Last Man on Earth, won nods for Fox. The five-year streak tied a record set by “Frasier”.

This year, though, Anderson was the first to hear and made his jubilation at his nomination as well as ones for co-star Tracee Ellis Ross and the show widely apparent.

“The People v. O.J. Simpson” also earned nominations for lead actor for Cuba Gooding Jr. and Courtney B. Vance”, lead actress for Sarah Paulson and supporting actor for Sterling K. Brown, David Schwimmer and John Travolta.

Netflix also earned a nod in the Television Movie category for Bill Murray’s holiday special “A Very Murray Christmas”.

The awards will be televised live, September 18 on ABC, with Jimmy Kimmel as host.

As usual, HBO led the networks in nominations, with 94 total, followed by FX (56), Netflix (54) and NBC (41). Danes has previously won two Emmys in the Lead Actress in a Drama Series category for HOMELAND.

The category of outstanding limited series has emerged as one of the industry’s most intense battle grounds as networks invest in short-term star vehicles and returning series that reinvent themselves each season.

In the Supporting Actor category, both Peter Dinklage and Kit Harington are nominated, whilst over in the Supporting Actress category, Maisie Williams, Lena Headley, and Emilia Clarke will battle it out.

Nominations for the 68th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards were announced Thursday morning, as “Black-ish” star Anthony Anderson and “Gilmore Girls” star Lauren Graham announced 12 categories.
