Game Of Thrones Ends After Season 8

HBO’s new programming chief, Casey Bloys, confirmed the news at the annual Television Critics’ Association press tour and announced that the long-running, smash-hit fantasy series will come to an end in 2018, but stopped short of mentioning how many episodes each season will have.

“Believe me, as the new guy, if I could get them do to more, I would take 10 more seasons”, Bloys said.

Previously, the show’s producers had said that like GOT season 7, which is slated to have only seven episodes; season 8 too would feature just 6 episodes.

Casey Bloys, the U.S. cable network’s new programming president, talked about a conclusion to the fantasy epic on Saturday. “We’ve talked about it”, he said. “It’s something I’m not opposed to, but of course it has to make sense creatively”.

Bloys noted that he doesn’t think Benioff and Weiss could “wrap their heads around it” while they’re still in production on the original series, but that the showrunners “weren’t opposed to it” in theory. But I’m open to it.

He also didn’t comment on the Game Of Thrones movie rumors that people-usually George R.R. Martin, who has to put his talent for crafting stories somewhere, apparently-are always floating around and/or vigorously denying. “The main goal is to do the best show for our subscribers and fans”, he said. The details were scant then – and well, they’re still scant now – but we have just learned a few more tidbits on just what Stewart will be up to at the network.

The upcoming seventh season will premiere in summer 2017. The series has garnered a loyal fanbase and cult following that will leave the show a cherished memory until it finally comes to an end.
