‘Game of Thrones’ likely to dominate Emmy nominations
Netflix is a television giant, and if it was not obvious already, Emmy nominations definitely made this more certain. Sam Esmail’s moody online nightmare broke into the hotly contested Best Drama Series category, and Rami Malek nabbed a nomination for his performance as show’s the unstable hacker-wunderkind hero. This year Mozart in the Jungle, which won two Golden Globes, got recognized for Outstanding Sound Mixing For A Comedy Or Drama Series Half Hour And Animation. In a feat unprecedented in Emmy history, Metcalf landed three separate nominations for three separate roles in the same year: that moving Horace and Pete spot; a guest appearance on The Big Bang Theory; and a Lead Actress in a Comedy nod for her role in HBO’s comedy Getting On. Though the series is already in its third series, it hasn’t gotten much attention to this year and received 11 nominations, just above Downton Abbey and just below House of Cards at 13 Nominations.

The nominations were announced by Gilmore Girls star Lauren Graham and Black-ish’s Anthony Anderson, who whooped and cheered as he read out his own nomination in the best comedy lead category, one of several the show received.
“The People v. O.J.” viewed Simpson’s trial through the prism of racial politics gripping the nation in the aftermath of the videotaped beating of black motorist Rodney King by white policemen in Los Angeles.
Starting with the Outstanding Supporting Actor award, former nominee Peter Dinklage, who plays Tyrion Lannister, goes against Kit Harrington, who plays Jon Snow.
Making a stand for basic cable, FX’s “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story”, proved the second-most nominated show with 22 bids.
There were also nods for Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney, for their writing on comedy Catastrophe, and for The Americans’ Matthew Rhys, who was nominated in the best drama actor category.
Besides, writers David Benioff and DB Weiss were also nominated.
In a phone interview, Paulson said that despite joy over her recognition she was happiest to learn that Brown was nominated for his portrayal of Darden. “I could not be more humbled”.
The 2016 Emmy Awards will be on September 18.
Comedy Series: black-ish; Master of None; Modern Family; Silicon Valley; Transparent; Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt; Veep.
