The renewal would be for seasons seven and eight marking the second time that Game of Thrones has scored the dual order. Also, things look promising for the future of the series as HBO have revealed that they have nearly settle negotiations to complete another two seasons, according the The Hollywood Reporter. [They] feel like there’s two more years after six.
New cast members for season six include veteran actor Max von Sydow, who has been cast as the Three-eyed Raven, and Withnail and I’s Richard E. Grant, who will play the manager of a visiting theatre troupe. Obviously, Game of Thrones is an incredibly popular property worldwide and it’s obvious HBO wants as many episodes of the show as possible, so the real concern is whether or not Season 8 will mark the end of the series.
This is the latest in the year a season of the show has ever premiered, and with the standard 10 episodes we expect, it will likely wrap up in late June. The show is normally based on the A Song of Ice and Fire novels by George R.R. Martin, but season six will see the show move beyond the narrative in the books.
The premium cable outlet went through a similar process when it ordered the fifth and sixth season of the series.
