‘Game of Thrones’ season finale sets stage for epic march toward finish
As a general rule in the “Game of Thrones” world, if a character is involved in what appears to be a life-ending situation, but there’s no evidence of a physical body, there’s a chance that character may return at some point. Ned finishes with Dayne, ascends the Tower of Joy, and discovers Lyanna at the top.

Staying true to the roots of her house, Daenerys Targaryen has had to walk through fire and blood on several occasions throughout the 6 seasons of HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones.’ Whether it be violently losing her brother and essentially being sold to Khal Drogo, or, more recently, dealing with the Masters in the Slavers bay of Meereen, Daenerys has always had an iron will to get what she has been after – quite literally walking through fire and blood to reach it. A woman brings out a baby. After all, Jon Snow finally has taken his rightful place as ruler in the North and Daenerys has finally set sail towards Westeros.
Fresh off the confirmation of the long-held fan theory that Jon (Kit Harington) was Lyanna’s son (about time!), we got to watch as yet another King was crowned in the North. It was a great moment for Jon, but it leaves his and Sansa’s (Sophie Turner) relationship with Littlefinger (Aiden Gillen) in question. Loras takes his punishment and has his head carved, but Cersei refuses to show up. But she is now finally *the* queen of the Seven Kingdoms.
“There’s a moment before Margaery and the High Sparrow die when they look at each other and Margaery realizes that Cersei has outplayed him and she’s gonna die because of that”. By the end of the episode, Cersei is queen and sits on the Iron Throne. In that episode from 2011, we saw Northern lords swear fealty to the King in the North, Daenerys emerging “unburnt” from the pyre of Khal Drogo, and Arya heading north. In Season 6 Episode 10, we saw… After a terrific recent visual of the The Battle of the Bastards – said to be the best ever episode of the series, the ultimate pressure is on the finale.
We can’t wait for a Dany v Cersei face-off. “But I got it six months ahead of normal”, Dormer was quoted as saying. Surprisingly, all of the four Starks that he touched in the first episode are dead by the last episode of the sixth season. The sparrows angle was entertaining and put a bunch of different characters on the defensive, but it was a drag by the end of the season. “The Battle of the Bastards” seemed like a tough act to follow, but “The Winds of Winter” delivered.
Cersei celebrates her victory by torturing Unella, a member of the Faith who tortured Cersei when she was kept in captivity. Cersei wants her to suffer. Grande Maester Pycelle was also killed after he was stabbed to death by Qyburn’s child spies before the wildfire explosion.
