However, as if that wasn’t bad enough, we’re going to have to wait for the next season until summer 2017! We assume this means they’ll cram far more blood, murder, dragons and incest into each episode for efficiency.
Casey Bloys, HBO programming president, said in a statement that the change of filming schedule was a result of winter arriving in the storyline.
There has been a lot of discussions lately about when and how the show will end.
HBO are yet to confirm that the final season (8) will be limited to 6 episodes, but that too is expected, even if it’s not announced until after 7 airs. The show’s sixth season delivered two of its greatest episodes back-to-back, a feat many didn’t think was possible as GoT was notorious for fire penultimate episodes and less emphatic finales.
HBO had already made it clear that season seven would premiere slightly later than the show has in the past.
Another interesting titbit is that shooting will take place in Northern Ireland, Spain, and Iceland, especially as the latter has always been used for scenes set North of the Wall. That’s huge news for everyone who is not HBO, considering the series has scored more nominations than any other show the past three years.
We have some tragic news to share, Game of Thrones fans.
Of course, that doesn’t necessarily mean season 7 will contain less actual running time. It has been confirmed that Season 7 of the hit HBO drama will only run for 7 episodes. Rumors of a shorter season have been circulating for months now, and that has also been confirmed.

Anyway, couldn’t we all use a little dose of winter during the dog days of summer next year? Martin reportedly provided the Game of Thrones production team with information on some of the major developments he sees in the remaining books.
