Game of Thrones to conclude in 2018

Newly anointed programming chief Casey Bloys confirmed what’s always been rumored: That the eighth season of “Game of Thrones” will indeed be the final one.

The end is near for ‘Game of Thrones’. “But we take their lead on what they need to make the best version of their show”.

Casey Bloys, the United States cable network’s new programming president, talked about a conclusion to the fantasy epic on Saturday.

Bloys also answered the speculations about a “Game of Thrones” spin-off, saying that they have talked about it, but there are concrete plans yet.

The most watched HBO series ever, “Game of Thrones”, has been going strong for five years now, having recently concluded its sixth season.

Bloys noted that he doesn’t think Benioff and Weiss could “wrap their heads around it” while they’re still in production on the original series, but that the showrunners “weren’t opposed to it” in theory.

Bloys said at the conference that the number of episodes for the final season has yet to be determined.

If there’s anything we’ve learnt from the gorey show, it’s to not fall for things until they’re confirmed but this news seems to be set in stone. Season 6, the one just gone, was shorter than previous seasons with just seven episodes. I would take 10 more seasons. The production has chose to move the launch in summer 2017 as they are seeking to film in colder weather for creative reasons.

“It’s always better to win more Emmys”, Bloys said.

Most fans of the show won’t like hearing that it’ll all end in a few years with only a handful of episodes to air, but the decision is consistent with HBO’s, and many other cable channels’, philosophy of quality over quantity.
