Just behind Lena was her Game Of Thrones’ cast mate Sophie Turner who was spotted with what appears to be a frappuccino in her hand so it looks it was a busy night for the local Maccy D’s. Other African-American actresses who prevailed Sunday were Uzo Aduba of “Orange is the New Black” and Regina King of “American Crime“. He’s been nominated for his role in the drama series every year since 2009 and has yet to win.
Emmys voters didn’t give up their fondness for choosing the familiar over the groundbreaking in other categories as well.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus won best comedy actress for the fourth time for playing Selina Meyer on Veep, while Tony Hale, who plays her bag man, was again named best comedy supporting actor.
Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart” signed off for good in early August.
In addition to drama series honours, it scored wins for drama writing (for David Benioff and DB Weiss) and directing (David Nutter) – a recognition of the fantasy series’ undeniable popularity and the scale of the production.

For sheer awards tonnage, it was a triumph for HBO.

Samberg kicked off the ceremony with a video in which he made elaborate fun of the overload of TV programs available. The TV Academy awarded only four prizes to the main USA broadcast networks.
