Fairfield: The Stags shot 35 percent for the game….

On Saturday afternoon, the North Carolina Tar Heels showed everyone once again that they should be taken seriously, and they did so by absolutely blasting the Miami Hurricanes. He’s nothing more than a filler option in DFS play. Coleman suffered cramps and played five minutes in the second half.

On Friday the Tar Heels launched what they and their fans believe is a run at a National Championship by easily taking down Temple by a final score of 91-67. “We have to keep moving forward and find a way to get ourselves to eight wins this year”. The offensive woes were not helped by Carolina’s lackluster free throw performance as the Heels were 6-14 from the charity stripe in the first 20 minutes.

Elijah Hood ran for 132 yards and a score for UNC, which didn’t put up the gaudy yardage numbers from last week’s 66-31 rout of Duke. Oregon, along with UNC, both started with freshman players as #22-ranked UNC tries to make up for the loss of Stephanie Mavunga and Allisha Gray, who dominated the game a year ago. He and Nate Britt are filling in for UNC’s best player, and the wonder is what sort of shape the Tar Heels would have been in without those two. Leading the way was junior guard Nate Britt, who came off the bench to match a pair of career-highs-scoring 17 points while also draining four shots from behind the three-point line. North Carolina are 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 home games and are 11-29 ATS in their last 39 Sunday games.

Sophomores Petersen and Lexi Bando, were a double threat to Carolina’s defense with their three-point shots – nothing but net for both ladies.

“We really wanted to send (the seniors) out the right way, 7-and-0, at home”, he said. However, most importantly he kept leaking out all game-hurting Carolina’s ability to grab defensive rebounds which lead in no small part to Fairfield’s 15 offensive rebounds. The grain of salt is that it was against UNC’s backups and it came while the game was completely out of reach, but it still begs the question as to why he doesn’t get more meaningful touches during games. Jackson was similarly ineffective when he stayed back on defense, he was twitchy for most of the game on defense and he committed multiple dumb fouls.

Miami Hurricanes scored 29.0 points compared to allowed 27.6 points with point differential of 1.4. Pinson was Carolina’s best distributor on the day, notching 8 assists and no turnovers. The Owls just missed the NCAA Tournament last season – they were listed in nearly all projections as one of the “last four out” of the tournament field.

Now the Tar Heels can earn a date with top-ranked Clemson on December 5 with a win in either of their last two games – road dates with Virginia Tech and rival North Carolina State – or a Pittsburgh loss in either of its last two games.
