Gamecocks guard Sindarius Thornwell misses practice with illness

It’s been an incredible tournament thus far and the Final Four promises to deliver more nail-biting action down the stretch this weekend and into Monday.

– Gonzaga is only the eighth team to reach the Final Four with one or fewer losses since the tournament expanded to its current 64+ team format in 1985.

They have forced an average of 17 turnovers in four NCAA Tournament games, outscoring every team in the second half by an average of 13.5 points. A lot of people point to their schedule and bloated win total as a reason to count out the Bulldogs.

“Of course, nobody likes to lose, but that one – when you’re right there, all of us, we just need that second chance”.

No. 1 Gonzaga (36-1) vs. He also gets to the free-throw line a ton. She was a SC fan now – or at least for the next hour. “That will help Gonzaga”. Now enrollment has almost doubled to more than 7,500 students and construction cranes sprout on campus, developments that are largely attributed to the success of the basketball team. He’s going to be a really, really, a hard guard. May not be anyone playing better in the tournament. They survived an all-out battle against West Virginia in the Sweet 16 which proved that Gonzaga can win pretty, and win ugly.

Defending national champion North Carolina, Oregon, Gonzaga and SC will take the big stage in what should be an entertaining three-day event in Phoenix. The big guys are really good passers. I’m still stunned over the beat down they put on Kansas. A lot of their 3-point makes come off of the inside-out pass.

On Gonzaga’s defense: “Their size makes it tough”. “They rebound well and we are big on offensive rebounding”. The Bulldogs finally blew the lid off the basket last Saturday against Xavier, shooting 12-for-24 on 3-point attempts in an 83-59 blowout. He’s very bad good when he’s comfortable. “He can guard “one” through ‘five, ‘ very comfortable with him guarding the best perimeter on the team or best forward on the team”. You’re not going to take all of it away. During the regular season, each of the three teams listed shot 45 percent or better. They play a tough non-conference schedule and all of their games are televised. If someone told before the game she won’t score, I’d say we’re in trouble. So it’s the front end of the possession and the back end of the possession.

“They haven’t been able to get rid of me since”, Roth joked. They have a rim protector and they funnel you to the rim. It’s his consistency to knock down the 3. We’ve done that year after year after year.

But Dorsey, a 6-foot-4 sophomore guard, understands good timing.

OR played great defense against Kansas in their 74-60 Elite Eight takedown of the Jayhawks. There were a total of 51 fouls called, and only 34 field goals scored between the teams; the old March Madness axiom of “survive and advance” was never more apt for the Zags.

In fact, OR and North Carolina are particularly prominent programs for Nike. Since the injury to Boucher, Dillon Brooks has provided a bulk of the leadership for the Ducks. “Isaiah Hicks can’t guard him”. He totally discombobulated Kansas with his ability to block shots and change shots. They see the Final Four as a culmination two decades in the making. “They believe they can do it, but they also realize it can go the other way and that bothers them so they stay committed to the task”. And once he gets there, both OR and North Carolina have scoring wings that Williams is uniquely qualified to guard on the defensive end. He’s shooting 65.4 percent on 3-pointers. Thornwell has led the Gamecocks in scoring every game since February 28. He can handle the ball.

One of the competition’s biggest surprises may not have been an actual upset, but the ACC’s futility and the SEC’s success.
