“He wants to ride the wave at its high point”, said Glen Cooper, who added his son did not want to risk potential injury by returning for his senior season. While South Carolina has struggled to a 3-8 record and the resignation of former coach Steve Spurrier, Cooper has been outstanding.

Cooper leads the Gamecocks with 62 receptions for 887 yards and seven touchdowns this season.

Cooper’s current output ranks eighth in school history and he needs 113 yards against Clemson to join Gaffney’s Rice as the only Gamecocks with multiple 1,000-yard receiving seasons. He was a first-team All-SEC pick in 2014 when he caught 69 passes for 1,136 yards.

Cooper could be taken in the second or third round, if he tests well at the NFL Combine. “We’ve got great respect for him”. He wears the toughness on his sleeve. I love how he plays the game, and he does it in a very unassuming way.
