Ybarra also explained that thanks to Xbox One features like Instant On (which allows for software updates when the console is off) recording TV shows is possible even when you’re not at home. Games can for instance use her to check on friend status without leaving a game.

Just a couple of days ago, Windows 10 was launched for the PC and the rollout is underway. There’s still no firm release date, but the game is set to hit the Xbox One in 2016. This means an upgrade to the Xbox interface, and also the ability to start streaming and playing your games across console, TV and your Windows 10 devices (laptops, tablets and phones).

Xbox held its annual Gamescom media briefing overnight, announcing Halo Wars 2 and debuting gameplay of Crackdown 3, Scalebound and Killer Instinct Season 3. Halo Wars 2 will be exclusive to the Xbox One and Windows 10 and will be developed in collaboration with the renowned strategy game studio, The Creative Assembly, which also developed the critically-acclaimed Alien: Isolation. Console games have been getting larger and larger, with games like Call of Duty coming in around 55 GB with expansions and add-ons.

Then Microsoft announced their excited return to the e-sports scene, with claims that Halo 5: Guardians is more competitive and the launch of a ‘Halo World Championship’ later this year where the victor will receive $1 million. This year at Gamescom, the upcoming Halo 5: Guardians demonstration included a presentation of an eSports match-up, complete with color commentary. This is a great step, and one that is bound to trigger a lot more upgrades to the One by Xbox 360 owners.

The Xbox One has 500 GB of storage space – not bad, until you consider that a good chunk of that goes to the operating system and that games can be around 50 GB in size. Compatible with both the Xbox One and the Xbox 360, the Seagate Game Drive for Xbox will sell for $109.99 and will be available from GameStop, Amazon, and retailers across the globe.
