GameStop CEO Pegs PlayStation VR For Late 2016 Release
Update: Instead of either clarifying, confirming, or denying Raines’ statements, a Gamestop representative told Ars the same thing that Sony did: “Sony has not officially announced a release date for PlayStation VR”. Sony had most previously suggested a release date for the first half of 2016 for the headset.

He said: “We will launch the Sony product this Fall”.
Sony: “GameStop was speculating and we have not released any further details on launch timing”.
According to GameStop CEO Paul Reines, Sony’s PlayStation VR headset is scheduled to be launched sometime this fall. However, he probably has a pretty good idea about the general time of its availability, especially considering his company is working with Sony to release the product in stores and online. Formerly known as Project Morpheus, the headset is expected to launch sometime in Q2, along with rivals from HTC and Oculus (which is actually out next month).
It’s looking like 2016 will be the year virtual reality hits the mainstream now that Oculus Rift is on the brink of shipping and Google Cardboard is into the millions of units sold.
Excitement is building in the virtual reality (VR) space as PC-based head-mounted display (HMD) manufacturers Oculus VR and HTC prepare to launch their consumer headsets to the public. On the other hand, Sony PlayStation VR has a more sleek design, and its tech is inside a helmet-like area.

Games for PlayStation VR can be rendered at 120fps. A lot of gamers have been curious about the PSVR due to Facebook and Oculus stepping up their game and announcing that their virtual reality headset, the Rift, will be available this March.
