Miles’ future has been murky over the past two weeks.

Miles said he was informed of the decision by Alleva shortly after returning to the Tigers’ locker room.
“I am proud to be associated with a great institution, my colleagues, my coaches, my players and the president and athletic director”, Miles said. Just like we do for everybody, offense, defense, and special teams.
Miles said he and Alleva last spoke on Sunday regarding an issue unrelated to his job status. “I agree with Joe. Joe wants to work for that, and I’m fully right with him”. It’s not enough to win occasionally.
“He didn’t really vocalize it, but we knew he wanted to win it. This was his last team, his home team, and we just wanted to do it for him”.
The news conference began with Alleva making the announcement on Miles’ future.
The Tigers defense held Texas A&M to 250 total yards with four sacks, an interception and two fumble recoveries.
“I expect to talk to him whenever it’s appropriate to talk to him, at whatever time”, Miles said. Victory is nice, especially three weeks late.
Derrius Guice finished with 73 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries.
Gannett’s Glenn Guilbeau said Miles returned because LSU couldn’t get its top choice to replace him. It’s hard when the quarterback can’t set his feet and get the ball downfield.

Inside Death Valley before kickoff, the crowd roared when Miles was introduce during Senior Day ceremonies. The coach tipped his trademark baseball cap to acknowledge the crowd, raising the volume a little more.
“We didn’t play very smart tonight”, said Sumlin, who dropped to 0-4 against LSU since the Aggies joined the Southeastern Conference in 2012. And I’m very pleased that Coach Miles is our coach.
There were a handful of pre-snap penalties and the passing game was largely ineffective.

More coming on this breaking story. The Tigers (8-3) added field goals of 32 and 38 yards by Trent Domingue, but Domingue missed three others from 25, 50 and 46 yards. On the next play, Guice took the hand-off on an end around to the far side of the field and raced 50 yards untouched for a touchdown, putting LSU back in the lead for good 13-7 with 7:13 to play in the third quarter. Texas A&M took a 7-6 lead with 3:26 to play in the opening period on an 8-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Kyle Allen to wide receiver Ricky Seals-Jones.
